Multi-cultural Awareness and Anti-racism for Teens
Eye-opening online experience that will educate teens on the history of systemic racism in America and answer the questions many of them are asking right now. Why is this still happening? This online session is for all student leaders that want an understanding of the issues and want to learn how they can make a difference.
In this course, we give an account of one of the most important topics in this moment in history, and provide guidance on how student leaders can help in the process of breaking down the walls of inequity and injustice.
Here is what you will learn:
What is Jim Crow and how does it affect people of color today?
What is white privilege and how does it affect me?
Learn the distinction between prejudice, bigotry, and racism
What is systemic racism and how does it impact me?
What is cultural bias and do I have them? Learn how to identify your own unconscious cultural biases
What do I do when I witness racism in my school? Learn how to address inequity and racism in your school when you witness incidents
Things to avoid to help overcome systemic racism
What to do when you are afraid to speak up
What is a micro-aggression? Learn how to become aware of conscious and unconscious micro-aggressions, stereotypes, and prejudices that further exacerbate the system of racism in our country
