9th Annual Juried Exhibition

Susquehanna Art Museum’s 9^th annual juried exhibition invites artists to submit works that explore subjects relating to the domestic. In a time when social, political, and familial norms are being revealed and renegotiated on an international scale, the term ‘domestic’ relates to a wide range of topics.

Submitted works may include but are not limited to the following subject matter: the architecture or design of homes, neighborhoods, and cities; domestic labor; gender and social roles; domestic and foreign policies; domesticity; boundaries and borders; indigeneity; political and interpersonal relations; and domestication.

Selected artworks will lean into the complexity of what is considered domestic and offer a nuanced interpretation of the concept. Work in all media is welcome for consideration, and selections will be made based on the applicability to the theme as well as the group of pieces that work best as a whole. Submissions are limited to works with a maximum dimension of 72”.

JUROR

• SAM is pleased to welcome 2024 juror Cesar Cornejo, Associate Professor of Fine Art at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds, UK.

PRIZES

• Juror’s Choice Prize – $400
• Viewer’s Choice Prize – $250 (visitors can vote for this prize through Friday, December 20, 2024)

IMPORTANT DATES 

• The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2024. No late submissions will be reviewed.
• Artist notifications will be sent out between August 13 – 16, 2024
• Selected work should be delivered to Susquehanna Art Museum during pre-arranged times between September 16 – 30, 2024. Shipped work must arrive by September 30, 2024. 

FEES 

• FREE for current Susquehanna Art Museum members – up to three pieces.
• Visit SusquehannaArtMuseum.org/Membership  to become a member and waive submission fees.
• Fee for non-members – $15 per artwork, up to three pieces.

GUIDELINES  

• Submissions are open to artists working in all media. Work must be original. Selections will be made based on the applicability to the theme as well as the group of pieces that work best as a whole.
  • Submissions are limited to works with a maximum dimension of 72”.
• Artists are responsible for shipping or delivering accepted work to Susquehanna Art Museum. The museum will coordinate return shipping.
• Uploaded images should be named as follows: LastName,FirstName_TitleOfPiece.jpg (or other standard image file format). Images should be high resolution (300 DPI).
• All work must be prepared to exhibit in a manner consistent with their medium. Two-dimensional work should have a standard hanging method.
• By entering the jurying process, the artist agrees to have their work available for the duration of the exhibition and to deliver the original artwork during the agreed-upon dates. The artist grants the organizers permission to photograph works for publicity, educational, and reference purposes.
• By entering the jurying process, the artist understands that their work will be subject to a blind jurying process and is not guaranteed to be included in the exhibition.
