Shachar-Mario Mordechai was born in 1975 in Haifa, northern Israel. He grew up in Kiryat Bialik and currently resides in Tel Aviv. His Poetry book, "Make Room for the Rain" published in 2019.

Previous poetry books include "History of the Future", published in 2010, "Who's on our Side", published in 2013, as well as an upcoming book due in 2021.

Shachar-Mario Mordechai was the Poet-in-Residence at Johns Hopkins University, from 2018-19, the 2017 recipient of the Prime-Minister’s award for creativity in poetry and the 2010 recipient of Tel Aviv Municipality's nationwide Poetry Competition. His poems have been translated into Arabic, English, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, Norwegian, Kurdish, Turkish, Greek, and Croatian.
