1. Pooja

This may be regular prayer, bhajan, keertan, chants, aartis, bhandara or similar in temple. These events (except private poojas) are usually open for all.

Examples include Hanuman Chalisa, Atharvashirsha, Bhagwati Jagran, Baby Annaprashan (without party or feast), etc.

2. Private event

These are private events (except weddings), hosted by an individual. 

Examples include Birthday, Baby Shower, Baby Naming Ceremony, Ring Ceremony, Wedding Anniversary etc.

3. Community event

These are public events, hosted by an association. Entry to these events may be on prior registration, sometimes on a payable basis.

Examples include Durga Pooja, association days, performances by artists, etc.

4. Wedding, according to Hindu tradition

5. Other

Any other event that does not naturally fall into any of the above categories.
