NING STANDARD 203!
** A SECOND FIERCE PANDA MISSIVE ABOUT YONDER PANDEMIC **
Hello there you fine panda frying pan wielders. How on earth are we?? Since the 202nd edition of Ning Standard sauntered forth on March 24th it seems things have got even more sensationally perpendicular out there. Like so many others we’ve been swerving around fellow shoppers at the Combs Co-op in hot pursuit of the last bag of pasta, watching the Suffolk stars, drowning in Yorkshire Tea in the kitchen, and trying to come up with some kind of gentle angle to help keep the mental musical wheels still spinning. Oh, and having babies. Welcome to the mad world, Indy Wilson!
Ipso facto in a moment of shopper-swerving star-watching tea-sipping reflection we came up with the fierce panda Covid Version Sessions (a bit like Cover Version Sessions, only with a different spelling and pronunciation). The Covid Version Sessions is where various panda bands locked into rockdown give you, the panda punter, their own personal homespun take on music which touches them in so many ways, and all in support of the National Health Service.
Kinda like CVS for the NHS. But then again, perhaps not.
First out of the blocks were National Service, whose frontman Fintan delivered a homely covid version of the Twilight Sad’s ‘Last January‘ – watch it here.
Second up came Desperate Journalist, who have fearlessly attempted a covid version of ‘The Fear’ by Pulp – listen to it here.
There’s also a spellbinding mini-covid-version of Skeeter Davis’s ‘The End Of The World’ by Moon Panda knocking around the middle of the desert kicking about on t’internet - watch it on the bands Facebook page here. Meanwhile hot of the press; Moon Panda have today revealed their full Covid Version Session on their YouTube Page covering a deep cut by The Strokes entitled 'Call It Fate, Call It Karma' recorded in a barn in USA during lockdown - watch here!
Other panda bandas are hard at work while they are away from work, so keep an eye on the fierce panda socials for more news of the Covid Version Session rockdown uploads. And don’t forget you can hear originals from all of the above and Jekyll and Scrounge and Italia 90 and Skint & Demoralised and so many more at the supremely official Pandamonium!
