Campaign Story:

The southern region of Türkiye has recently experienced a devastating earthquake, which has left many families struggling to survive. As Muslims, we are called upon to help those in need, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The best charity is that given in Ramadan" [Tirmidhi].

In this spirit, we are launching a campaign to provide free meals to our brothers and sisters in Southern Türkiye who have been impacted by the earthquake. Our campaign is grounded in the Islamic principle of zakat, or charity. Allah says in the Qur'an, "And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, saying, 'We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude'" (Qur'an 76:8-9).

We want to offer hope and support to the survivors of the earthquake, particularly during this blessed month of Ramadan. Our goal is to provide free meals to 500 families per day through a central kitchen, equipped with all necessary equipment and supplies.

We estimate the total cost of equipping is $8,624 and operating the central kitchen to be $2,500 per day or $17,500 for one week the kitchen will still provide meals in the area even after the blessed month for 6 months to maximize the impact of each donation.

Through this campaign, we hope to embody the Islamic values of compassion and generosity and to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by the earthquake.

As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." [Tirmidhi]. We invite all Muslims to join us in this effort to serve our brothers and sisters in need during this blessed month of Ramadan.

Once the funds are used, the central kitchen will provide meals for families in Southern Türkiye. Our goal is to ensure that no family goes hungry during the holy month of Ramadan and to help alleviate some of the suffering caused by this humanitarian crisis.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “He who provides a fasting person something with which to break his fast with, will earn the same reward as the one who was observing the fast, without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter.” [Tirmidhi]
