Where Future QTBIPOC Reiki Healers are Born

Once a year, STARNATION REIKI INSTITUTE leads a small group of students up the mountains and waterways of Mt. Shasta to learn the ways of Reiki 靈氣 while being in right relationship with the land and its natural surroundings.

We aim to raise $10K to cover student tuition fees, curriculum materials, lodging, and meals for the upcoming June 2023 Reiki training at Hestia Retreat Center in the Mt Shasta area. It will also support STARNATION REIKI's financial viability, a queer woman BIPOC-owned business.

Unlike any Reiki 靈氣 training in the United States, Returning to the Shamanic & Buddhist Roots of Reiki ™ harnesses the power of the outdoors and weaves Japanese folk medicine ways with indigenous practices of Turtle Island to train future generations of QTBIPOC Reiki practitioners.

Since the dominant/popular way of learning Reiki has primarily been disseminated through a western appropriated lens—mostly divorced from nature and its Japanese shamanic and Buddhist roots—STARNATION REIKI founder, marie kyoko morohoshi is dedicated to bringing these teachings through her cultural lens and sensibility.

We created the Student Community Scholarship Fund to bring this powerful healing practice to underserved communities while shifting who the dominant wellness industry trains and serves. Placing these practices back into the hands of QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and people of color) honors those who came before us and empowers generations of future medicine holders to come.

A portion of the tuition fees will go to Chief Caleen Sisk of the Winnemem Wintu tribe and their Run4Salmon "prayerful journey to restore their salmon runs, protect their waters, and indigenous lifeways" as a commitment to be in right relationship with our Indigenous relatives whose land and waterways we will be practicing on.
