ieat AGM 2012: Groovy Baby!

Last Saturday’s ieat 6th AGM was a blast, thanks to all our sporting participants and our irreverent emcee, Joe Chia. It was by far the biggest makan session that we have hosted with 290 ieaters turning up to celebrate our 6th anniversary as well as the launch of my latest book Only the Best.

When I started writing the blog back in Aug 2006, I had no idea of ever publishing a book. I had just started my clinic and since I had some free time on hand, I decided that I would eat at Singapore’s most famous and best hawkers and write about it. It started as an idea which grew into an obsession to find Singpaore’s best hawkers for every different hawker dish that our island has to offer. All the eating, exploring and shooting is now condensed into one book which is aptly titled (by Ruth, my editor) “Only the Best!” I am also very happy to tell you that it contains a chapter on Durians which will help you differentiate a Mao Shan Wang from a D101! It’s designed to be portable so you can keep it in your handbag, manbag or car and would make a great Christmas gift ; ). The book is now available at all major bookstores and retails at $17.

I would like to thank Joe Chia and Jimmy for helping me organize the AGM. Thanks to Irene and Alice for helping with the goodie bags and Joel and James for taking photos. Thanks also to all the ieaters who have supported the blog in one way or other!

You can view the Groovy Photos here.

Finally, I have to thank the following sponsors for their support in sponsoring our gifts and prizes

Shangri-La Hotel

Until the next ieat Makan session, may you eat well and prosper!
