Try the NIGMS Sandbox: An Interactive Cloud-Based Learning Platform. NIGMS is offering a limited quantity of no-cost Google Cloud credits for INBREs. Created by a multidisciplinary team of scientists from across the country, the NIGMS Sandbox Modules are a publicly accessible set of interactive GitHub repositories and videos that enable researchers to get hands-on, self-guided experience running cloud-based scientific workflows in areas such as proteomics, biomarker discovery, and more. There will be an seidea23 Pre-Conference Workshop on Friday, Sept 15 at 2 pm entitled, “Accessing Cloud-based Training Modules for Data Sciences.”

The session agenda includes an Introduction to NIGMS Sandbox, Demonstration of the Biomedical Imaging Analysis using AI/ML training module and a Q & A session. This session available for virtual participation upon request. Contact us with interest!

Deadline is just a month a way!

SC INBRE’s Call for Membership Proposals invites applications from primarily undergraduate institutions (PUIs) across South Carolina that would like to be considered for membership in SC INBRE V (2025-2030). Institutions eligible to apply for inclusion in the SC INBRE V network include institutions that have awarded fewer than 20 PhD/DSc in the previous two academic years. Proposals are due by 5 pm ET on Sept 30

Change in Registration Deadline

Due to change in deadlines from our venues and caterers, our final registration deadline has changed from next Fri, Sept 8 to 5 pm ET, Weds, Sept 6. We won't have on-site registration. You must register attend – and believe us, you WANT to attend! This Conference is open to ANYONE interested in biomedical and data science research, making connections with other researchers located throughout the southeast and meeting representatives from the NIH/NIGMS.

The Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), along with the other participating NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices (ICOs) announce the availability of administrative supplements to IDeA awards to expand research and research capacity in the IDeA states to address important issues of women’s health across the lifespan. These administrative supplements aim to increase research specifically directed at women’s health and health disparities and to expand the capacity of IDeA states to conduct women’s health research. One application from SC INBRE may be submitted. Any faculty at an SC INBRE institution (does not have to have been directly funded by SC INBRE) who is interested in applying, needs to email SC INBRE’s Program Director, Dr. Edie Goldsmith, no later than noon on Sept 5 to be considered for that slot.
Discovery Pilot RFA DEADLINE EXTENDED. Due to the projected impacts of Hurricane Idalia, MUSC SCTR is extending the deadline for their Discovery Pilot opportunity to Sept 8, 5 pm. Discovery grants support translational science projects that involve basic research, clinical research and/or community/population health research approaches for the purposes of collecting critical preliminary data for submission of extramural grant applications and to publish, disseminate or implement research findings. 

Special Mechanism: K-Awardee and Pre-Doctoral Trainee Collaborative Discovery Grant. This special mechanism for the SCTR Discovery Grant seeks to promote a team-based collaborative translational research project between a current or recently graduated K-awardee and a predoctoral trainee while enhancing team science and mentoring.

This workshop on Sept 18-19 (online or in-person) intends to address two main design issues for the randomized clinical trials: (a) selection of clinically meaningful endpoints, and (b) appropriate futility monitoring. This workshop will bring together distinguished experts from the academia, industry, and US federal government (FDA and NIH) to share their insights and solutions to these issues. The conference should be of particular interest to biostatisticians, clinical trialists, medical researchers and clinicians. Advanced Computational Neuroscience Network (ACNN) Big Data Workshop. Sept 14-15, Columbus, OH. This conference will feature national and international experts in neuroimaging, biomedical research, neuroscience, and data science, with a focus on highly dense behavioral and physiological data integration. The speakers will address challenges and successes in the integration of multimodal, multidimensional, multiscale data, regarding data standards, representation, and sharing. A workshop on the second day will focus on reproducible methods in neuroimaging. More/register
