Volunteer Befriender
Newspaper Reading Club aims to bring together youths and seniors in the community to foster intergenerational connections through reading selected news articles and discussing their opinions on them.
As a Volunteer Befriender, you will be tasked the following:
- Select relevant and engaging articles beforehand (with staff guidance)
- Read aloud the articles to the seniors
- Conduct small group discussions with the seniors
- Share your thoughts and opinions on the articles
Requirements (Pls read before applying):
- Age range: 17 to 35 years old
- Able to converse in Mandarin, English, and dialect is a plus!
- Volunteers are required to attend a mandatory online Orientation & Training (O&T)
- Volunteers are to commit for at least 3-4 sessions (exclusive of O&T)

Commitment dates:
Online O&T - 27 May 2024 (Monday), 11am - 12pm
Session 1 - 31 May 2024 (Friday), 10am - 12pm
Session 2 - 7 Jun 2024 (Friday), 10am - 12pm
Session 3 - 14 Jun 2024 (Friday), 10am - 12pm
Session 4 - 21 Jun 2024 (Friday), 10am - 12pm
Please note:
- The O&T is mandatory to support volunteers in understanding their roles and the programme better
- Shortlisted volunteers will be contacted via WhatsApp and Email
