Not interested in the Labour conference, Dave? Cameron takes son Arthur to watch his favourite football team

For generations, fathers have taken their sons to watch football on a weekend afternoon.

And it appears even being the Prime Minister does not get in the way of the tradition.

David Cameron took his son Arthur out for a Sunday afternoon treat as they watched Queen's Park Rangers take on Aston Villa at Loftus Road.

Mr Cameron is a well-known fan of Villa and took a seat in the director's box alongside his son.

The Prime Minister possibly wanted to get away from coverage of the Labour party conference, which got under way today, and take the focus away from Ed Miliband.

He also seemed to be mixing business and pleasure as he sat next to Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, who owns a third of the club.

His son meanwhile appeared to be having a great time as he also cheered on Villa - who it appears he supports like his father.

Unfortunately for Mr Cameron and his son QPR snatched a point from Villa when defender Richard Dunne scored an own goal in injury time as the match finished 1-1.

Earlier though he cheered happily when Villa took the lead through a penalty scored by Barry Bannan.

Previously Mr Cameron has explained that the reason he supported Villa was because it was first game he ever went to see.

He is the nephew of the club's former chairman Sir William Dugdale, who took him to the first ever game when he was aged 13.
