R2A Review - A wrap of Engineering Due Diligence

Welcome to our first newsletter for 2023.  I hope you all had a chance to take some time off over the summer and enjoy time with family and friends.  Richard and I did just that and returned refreshed in January to update both our Engineering Due Diligence text as well as the Criminal Manslaughter booklet ready for the new year.  In addition, I am currently working on our new Project Governance booklet and hope to have that ready for print soon.

During February we have launched straight back into our education program, running a number of in-house courses through Engineering Education Australia (EEA) on Rail Safety National Law and Criminal Manslaughter.  Our public courses series kicks off with EEA in March (see dates below).

R2A is also proud to continue our involvement with the Australasian Marine Pilots Institute (AMPI) and have been invited to develop a risk and due diligence unit as part of the Alternate Pilot Training Program, which Richard will outline at their upcoming conference in Hobart on 1 March.

I hope it has been a great start for you all and if you have any questions relating to engineering due diligence and how to demonstrate SFAIRP for your credible critical issues, please get in touch with Richard or I – we are always happy to chat. Email admin@r2a.com.au or call 1300 772 333.

Until next time,

Gaye Francis

NEW ARTICLE
Why SFAIRP is not a Risk Assessment

Should Boards be aiming to achieve “acceptable safety” or the “highest level of safety that is reasonably practicable”?

In our latest article, R2A Partner, Richard Robinson, shares why Boards need to understand the difference between SFAIRP and Risk Assessment.

NEW BOOKLET

Project Governance

As detailed in our December newsletter, Richard and Gaye are working on a new booklet on Project Governance that will follow the chapter in our Engineering Due Diligence Text.

The booklet is intended to act as a handy guide for Senior Management, Directors & Board members to understand why applying the SFAIRP principle will ensure project showstoppers are eliminated and all other project risks are managed so far as is reasonably practicable.

We’re looking forward to (hopefully!) launching in April with an in-person event. If you’re interested in attending the launch and/or purchasing the first print run, email us at  admin@r2a.com.au.
