Location: Zoom Meeting (link will be sent to participants)

Program Description:
The TechGirls Virtual Reality Development & Social Entrepreneurship Program is a series of VR development and technology entrepreneurship workshops for middle school students. Participants will build an interactive VR environment to address one of seventeen UN Sustainable Development Goals and will present their ideas during the Project Showcase & Pitch Day.

Participants will use block programming and JavaScript to develop an interactive VR environment using CoSpaces that addresses a UN Sustainable Development Goal of their choosing. From this experience, program participants will be put in the shoes of technology entrepreneurs through a startup simulation, allowing them to see the possible career pathway of creating their own technology company. Program participants will also learn about education and careers in the field by interacting with computing professionals and entrepreneurs and learning about the opportunities available for innovation and leadership in computing. As a result of participating in the program, girls will be introduced to computing principles while working to create a product that aims to solve an issue they feel passionate about and which is personally important to them. In doing so, program participants will gain a holistic understanding of computer science and information technology that translates from education to industry. This process will allow each girl to discover her potential and aspire to continue future endeavors in the field. Through this hands-on experience, students will better understand the relevance of computer science in their own lives and the world.

Please note that this program will be held virtually through Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
