Sustainable Business Thought Leader | Empowering sustainability champions to unleash Sustainability-as-the-World-Needs (SWoN) and business leaders to upgrade to Business-as-the-World-Needs | Keynote Speaker

What is the future of #sustainability consulting, and how can we best prepare to thrive? ↓ Fellow leaders and professionals in #sustainabilityconsulting, let’s use the beginning of a new year to envision the world and the market in the remainder of the 2020s, truly assimilating all that #sustainabilityscience has been telling us. How will unraveling scenarios in the outer environment affect our business? And how can we make the most of it, strategically? Spoiler alert: We will see unprecedented disruption later this decade. As result, currently mainstream approaches to delivering #corporatesustainability consulting will become obsolete, and unless we adapt in time, we may struggle to recover from a loss of credibility.  With foresight, courage and timely action, we can convert this disruption into an opportunity to commercially thrive (capturing greater market share and growing client lifetime value, for horizon 1 thinkers), while delivering transformational value propositions that address real-world problems, and actively driving a shift from a culture of compliance to a culture of integrity (horizon 2+).  In this 4-part article series, I will cover:  1) how consultancies must newly view their purpose, in order to be able to reinvent themselves around future-fit value propositions and offerings + a beginner’s guide to #consultingactivism  2) what client needs will look like in the late 2020s, and what the appropriately adapted sustainability consulting value propositions and offerings are (hint: shifting focus towards systems transformation)  3) what capabilities and skill sets sustainability consultancies must develop or acquire in order meet new client expectations, and how to best go about that within the context of their hitherto indirect competitors 4) a specific approach that a consultancy can use to trigger and master continuous adaptation and innovation for future-readiness (h1) and future’s co-creation (h2+) Much like others who recently critiqued our ways, notably EdGillespie and AdamCarrel et al, my intent in this series is not calling anyone out, but calling all of you in! Who will benefit the most from reading this: - senior leaders in #consulting firms in charge of #strategy who want to stay on top of market trends, grasping opportunities early on - thought leaders in sustainability consulting responsible for developing points of view and contributing to value propositions and offerings - sustainability consultants familiar with sustainability science struggling to reconcile the gap between what they feel permitted to do on the day job and what needs to be done - young professionals looking to make meaningful livelihoods in corporate sustainability Esteemed followers - sustainability champions within sustainability functions, you may wish to look out for Part 2 later this January. (Ping me to tag you when it’s out). I look forward to a thought-provoking discussion!

Corporate sustainability consulting: Where is its jackpot opportunity in the 2020s, actually? (Part 1)

I would like to credit r3.0, particularly Bill Baue and Ralph Thurm, for giving me access to an incredible shortcut to high maturity understanding of the corporate sustainability space, and simultaneously invite them to critique this series (I am sure there is room for improvement). I would also like give a huge thank you to Neil Davidson of AndNowWhat for helping me edit this article, enriching it with nuance and his acumen. 🙏
