Nurses are struggling. Burdened by constant change, heavy workloads, and high emotional demands – nurses are just trying to make it to the next day. While more than half of nurses surveyed in a recent study by Mental Health America were experiencing compassion fatigue, a stunning 45% of nurses reported not having adequate emotional support.

Many healthcare organizations are just trying to keep everything together as they move forward. However, many nurses are lacking the programs, tools, and support they need to be able to overcome burnout and build their resilience.

Anne Darrow, RN, BSN, is one such nurse who has felt the pressure of her hospital being overwhelmed with patients. Her resilience was waning, and she like many of her co-workers are just trying to survive to the next day. “There are no words, it’s been traumatic," said Anne. “We have had to work extremely long hours and extra days without breaks. The hospitals have been full above capacity with the same number of staff to provide the care. We have given until we are empty, feel inadequate, heartbroken, exhausted physically and emotionally.”

This is the reality for nurses across the country. It’s clear that nurses need resources and support in order to be their best. We offered Anne a chance to take our resilience training course, which is specifically designed for nurses.

"I was 'all in' after seeing the short video of Dr. Thompson posted on the sign-up page," said Anne. "I can't imagine a hospital or nurse that wouldn't benefit from this course - it's awesome. Patricia is a perfect instructor. She's very easy to listen to. The modules are engaging and the right length for me to stay focused. I'm enjoying, learning, and being encouraged! It's so important for the nursing profession to know and share these valuable skills. We need them, and so do our patients and their families!"
