URGENT: Help forcibly moved asylum seekers in Sac

Sixteen migrants arrived on June 2 from El Paso TX via Las Cruces, NM, and were abandoned outside of a church in Sacramento. An additional twenty migrants arrived on June 5th. They are seeking asylum after a dangerous and long journey. Many of them arrived in Sacramento with only a single backpack, no sweaters, shoes that they have been wearing since the start of their journey, and in some cases, requiring urgent medical care. They all have immigration cases and court dates.

Sacramento ACT needs your help within the next two weeks to provide these asylum seekers with food, shelter, and medical care. Any donation, no matter the size, will help us ensure they have meals to eat and safe, temporary shelter.

Sacramento County is currently leading the coordination of reception and response activities for arriving migrants in coordination with the City of Sacramento, the State of California and community partners. NGOs and faith-based organizations in Sacramento are providing emergency sheltering and support services, with support from local volunteers and community groups. The State of California is providing Sacramento County with technical assistance and example resources from the Border Mission, as appropriate. The California Department of Justice is investigating whether any of the activities or actions associated with the relocation of migrants from Texas and Florida to California is in violation of any state or federal laws.

Sacramento ACT, a PICO affiliate, is providing shelter, food, clothing and a range of services to the migrants, with support from multiple partner organizations. Donations are urgently needed within the next two weeks to address the following critical needs:
