We are vital pieces of society and the economy, in the transition away from fossil fuels, we have a powerful voice in determining what future energy and social systems look like in Hawaiʻi. This series is a collaboration between Sierra Club of Hawaiʻi and Hawaiʻi Youth Climate Coalition!
We meet every month for interactive peer to peer education. The goal is for statewide high school, college, and university students to understand how our energy system works, develop an energy justice lens, and operate from a model of democratic organizing for a just transition in Hawaiʻi.
NEXT ONE: Tuesday Nov. , 4-5:00pm
TOPIC: What is the relationship between the areas of consumption of energy and the locations where energy is produced? Hint: they don't match. Disproportionate burden of energy siting is a core issue of energy injustice. We will explore that and continue our discussion on working towards a just and equitable regenerative economy!
We hope this forum invites critical conversations on the transition to a clean energy economy that will greatly impact our communities now and for generations to come. Let's make sure that the health, vibrancy, and well-being of people and ʻāina are at the forefront of decision-making.
Mahalo for your participation and interest in energy justice for Hawaiʻi!
