It was nice to read something different from the usual teenage drama we find in almost every book nowadays. It gets really boring after a while.

Twice in a lifetime is a love story and not only that. In this novel we see how the lives of a group of friends develop. Three of them in particular – Allie, Ben and Jake.

Allie and Ben meet during their last year of college on a blind date. He’s a player and she’s the kind of girl who has her nose stuck in a book most of the time. Not a nerd, but she takes her studies very seriously.

They fall in love and, after graduation, they get married. Ben and Jake, his best friend, start a business together and Allie becomes a kindergarten teacher.

Here, the author takes us on a journey in the past so we can batter understand which events lead to the current situation. I really liked how she’s done this and how smooth the transition from past to present was later on in the book.

Jake plays an important role since the beginning and he’s present all throughout the book, but more so after Ben’s death. He’s been in love with Allie since the first time he saw her but never acted on it and watched her make a life with Ben.

Allie will be forced to learn how to deal with everything from bills to raising a fifteen years old boy without a father. One of the things I liked about her is that she pulled up her sleeves and decided to start sorting things out instead of hiding in a corner and allowing the grief to consume her. Her strength is even more admirable after a secret about her late husband is revealed that affects everyone and makes her reconsider their life together. Jake will be there whenever she needs him but she is not about to let someone else carry her burdens for her.

Again, I have to give credit to the author for not skirting around the most unpleasant aspects of Allie’s situation such as her fears regarding her stubborn son, the frustration when it comes to fix something around the house or not knowing how certain things work, and her not being able to forget or forgive her husband’s betrayal and being conditioned by it.

Ruthie made it so that the readers, or some of them, can actually identify with the characters and understand, even like them better for that. She made it even impossible to hate Ben for what he did in the end.

Also, like I said in the beginning, there’s no useless drama even if Allie did step on my nerves a little bit in the end with her stubbornness.

I really liked this novel and I can’t wait for the next installment. You should really give it a chance.

Ruthie Henrick delivers the story we all want to read every now and then. The story of love between your Average Joe and your Average Jane. No billionaires, sexy model good looks, just Ben, Allie and Jake.

The book flashes back to when Allie and Ben first meet and follows their relationship and marriage. At the beginning we learn that Ben is dead, later finding out he was the victim to a terrible accident. Allie has also learned some bitter truths about Ben and is working towards forgiveness and moving on.

Jake on the other hand has been in love with Allie since go. He has stood by her and Ben, choosing to be in her life however he can. Wow, what a wonderful man! I need a Jake in my life, seriously!

This is a beautiful story of betrayal, forgiveness, healing and second chances.
This is one of those books that leaves your heart full and happy and I'm so thankful I got the opportunity to read it.
Right from the beginning I found myself drawn to Jake and my heart hurt for him having to watch the woman he loved marry his best friend.
I'm still not sure how to feel about Ben and the way he betrayed Allie. I'm completely in awe of Allie's strength to be able to forgive him, let alone open her arms wide to welcome the consequence of that betrayal.
Back to Jake...sigh. What an amazing friend to be able to sit back and watch your best friend live the life you can only dream about and take it all in such stride. Then to continue to honor that friendship even when an opening came for him to be able to live that life. What a great man to be exactly who and what Allie and Trey needed to help move on. How he only went for his dream when it was clear everyone involved was ready.
The ending was perfect in the best of ways. Sometimes people really do get their Happy Ever After...twice.
This story was beautifully written. I was heavily invested in each character throughout the book.
If you are looking for a story with a reformed bad boy, a fighter, or a billionaire alpha male then this book isn't for you. If you're looking for a good old fashioned love story with a perfect hard working, respectful everyman and a strong female lead then you HAVE to buy this book!!

Twice in a Lifetime was such a beautiful story. It has you asking, can you find love twice? Allie thought that she found her HEA with Ben, until one day it all came crashing down. His death uncovers a betrayal that completely changes Allie's world...Jack has been on the sidelines for years. Best friends with Ben and in love with Ben's wife. He is left stunned by a deathbed revelation and overwhelmed with guilt of a promise that he made. Now that he finally has his chance with Allie, will he blow it?

Twice in a Lifetime is beautifully written and will completely captivate you. It gave me everything I look for in a great read: from the angst to the romance to the humor. This is a story of friendship, betrayal, forgiveness and a second chance at love. This is an amazing debut novel from Ruthie Henrick. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

5+stars (wish I could give more)

This book will have you caught from the very first page to the very last! This book was just so much more than some books as this was more of "this could happen to me" situation. Allie is in college to become a teacher when her best friend, Reese, set her up on a blind date with her boyfriend's (Jake) best friend Ben. Ben was definitely a player but there was something more there when he met Allie and he didn't want to be a player with her, well unbeknownst to Ben, Allie and Reese Jake also felt a connection to Allie! Ben and Allie get married and have a son, Trey. Ben and Allow are happily married and Jake is right there for every occasion. When Ben dies suddenly Allie is devastated with a 13 year old son to raise and Jake is there to help her but keeps his feelings a secrecy as he has always done.

After Allie and Jake finding out some very disturbing news they help each other as they try to come to grips that maybe they didn't know Ben as well as they thought. Three years after Ben's death and with Trey gone to college Allie is learning what it feels like to actually be by herself. Her friends decide to set her up on a few blind dates but they all fail. Finally one night Jake decides to tell Allie how he has felt since the first time he met her and after a lot of thinking Allie finally realizes Jake has been there for everything, but could she be lucky to find love twice in her life?

This book caused me to shed a few tears (which I don't do often) if you are looking for a story of love, friendship, loyalty, loss, heartbreak and possibly a second love in a lifetime, you WON'T be disappointed in this book. This is definitely a book I could read more than one. If I could give this 10 stars I would because it is truly that AMAZING!

~arc provided for honest review~

Allie and Ben are set up on a blind date by their two best friends. Allie was more interested in school than boys but when she met Ben that changed. He was handsome, athletic and charming. She felt something for Ben that she had never felt for someone else. Ben too was nearly instantly smitten with her. The pair soon fell in love and married. Time went one, the two struggled with the ups and down of marriage. After the birth of their son Allie yearns for more children but Ben is not interested in having anymore kids. Ben has a closet full of secrets that not even his best friend Jake knows the full extent of. One tragic night Ben gets into a terrible car accident, he asks Jake to take care of his family. Ben knows that Jake has always had an affection for Allie and truthfully Jake probably deserves her more than Ben does. Allie is devastated and full of regrets from the loss of her husband. She doesn't think she can ever love again, but can she?

Let me start off with saying, this is a beautiful story of love and second chance. It's amazing how Allie was able to cope with the things that came to light after Ben passed away. I admire Allie's strength and love she had for her husband. Allie was able to forgive someone that hurt her deeply and to move on. Jake was really an amazing friend to Ben, never wanting to step on anyone's toes and sat their patiently, he truly loved Ben and Allie. Just wanting those he loved the most to be happy. Without giving too much away let me just say he was greatly rewarded when it was all said and done. If you enjoy romance I highly recommend this book, it's a beautiful story.

This book... This book was two words for me... FREAKING AMAZING!

I actually never read the synopsis. I went into Twice In a Lifetime blind, and boy am I glad I did. I didn't see what was coming until it hit me... in the chest... stealing my breath away... sobbing.

And that was just the beginning.

This book... This book gave me every emotion I could ever ask for. It had me laughing, crying, angry, heartbroken, and so very happy. It took me hostage until the very last page. And by that, I mean this book went everywhere with me. It became my child. It didn't go anywhere that I didn't. I couldn't put it down. I just couldn't leave the story. The author gripped me with her words that she weaved into this beautiful tale of a woman falling in love, twice!

You won't regret meeting Allie, and you most certainly won't regret falling in love with Ben and then again with Jake. And you most certainly won't regret enjoy all of the hysterical moments in between.
Gosh, I could go on and on about this book, but I won't. I'll stop myself before I give it all away!

Just do yourself a HUGE favor and get this book. Read it, devour it, and fall in love with it, just like I did. You won't be sorry! :)

OMG this story starts off with Allie finishing her last session with the shrink I suppose. Then they take you to when Allie first met Ben. Her best friend sets her up with her boyfriends friend. She wasn't looking for a relationship but she couldn't deny the attraction that was there. Ben and Jake have been best friends since forever. When Ben and Allie get married he's there when she has her first child he's there and when the baby needs a godfather it's Jake. Jake has been in love with Allie since she met Ben but as his best friend he doesn't let anyone know his feeling. Wow when tragedy strikes and Allie has to deal with not only the loss but betrayal by her husband Jake is there. When he finally gets the nerve to tell her his true feelings he didn't believe she would reciprocate he was shocked. What's funny is she finally realizes she can't be without him. She also has a surprise for him and she didn't even know. This book was fabulous it was also my first book by this author and I will be reading more from her. Sometimes you can believe that love will come twice.

***Bestsellers and Beststellers of Romance***

I read a little saying a while ago that referred to missed moments with someone that catches your eye, a moment that passed & you never see them again. But you think of that moment often. Then it goes on to say that someone out there has had that same moment with you. Of course, the saying was a lot shorter than what it's taking me to explain it. But this story reminds me of that saying.

I loved the story between Allie & Ben, Allie & Jake, Ben & Jake, and the friendship between all three of them. I loved the twists the story took when Ben died. Thinking the discovery of something so hurtful was one way, only to find out it was another. And the idea that Jake had this continuous moment with Allie, and she's completely oblivious, made me love Jake from the very beginning. Jake's commitment to Ben's friendship and Allies commitment to her husband resulted in many years of unknown feelings.

I loved Twice In a Lifetime. The journey and the happily ever after!

I loved the idea of the story but I just couldn't connect with the characters. Maybe it was because how it was written or maybe because the story was just too slow for my liking but I just didn't find myself invested in the story. Also, the grammatical errors, namely the quotation marks, were driving me crazy!

But in all honesty, what really made me disconnect from the story was when we confirm that . After that revelation, I just couldn't. I'm sure there is a perfectly logical excuse as to why he did it but I just couldn't continue the story.

I can't say enough good things about this book...poetic storytelling...check! Beautifully crafted writing style...check! A to-die-for leading male...check! A likable, funny, spunky female character...check! Twice in a Lifetime brings you along the journey of Allie, Ben, their son, and their best friend (who's always wanted Allie for himself) Jake. I loved this story and the way Ruthie Henrick weaved it so seemingly effortlessly. It has angst, love, humor, you name it! This is a do not miss debut novel!

Twice in a Lifetime by Ruthie Henrick

Review by Jen (BestSellers & BestStellars)

Twice in a Lifetime was such an amazing story. This book puts you through so many different emotions. There were moments were I was happy, sad, and angry. You get a little bit of everything in this second chance love story ... there was heartbreak, betrayal, romance, and the development of friendship. Ruthie Henrick did a great job in her debut novel!

I loved Allie. She’s beautiful, smart, and caring. She’s more focused on her academics instead of going out and partying. One night, her roommate decides that she needs to let loose and sets her up on a blind date with Ben, who she knows is a player. Reluctantly, Allie agrees and as soon as she sees Ben, she’s immediately attracted to him.

“He was a blond god, and evidently she was not immune. He made her breath catch. And her shoulders burned where he’d grasped her. She couldn’t help but track him - and the glorious way he filled out those faded Levis.”

After that night, Allie and Ben are inseparable. They get married and live their happily ever after, until Ben has an accident and passes away. Allie is a wreck, until she finds out that Ben betrayed her. Thank god she has Jake, who is Ben’s best friend, but soon becomes Allie’s best friend, too. Allie really needed Jake to help her get through the hard times, and he never let her down. But Allie has no idea that Jake has been in love with her since the first day he saw her, the night she was set up on the date with Ben.

The more time Allie spends with Jake, the more she starts to realize their relationship isn’t the brother/sister relationship she thought it was. She’s starting to have these feelings for him.

“She always thought she loved him like a brother, and she had, for many years. But now - what she felt for him now went soul deep, far more consuming than anything she could have imagined.”

I liked Ben in the beginning, until I found out how he betrayed Allie. I mean, he’s supposed to love her, but then he goes and does that? Although, on his deathbed, he talks to Jake, and I started to forgive him for what he did, and then really forgave him later on.

“You’re the best person I know, Jake. Much better than I am. You’ve loved her as long as I have. It’s your turn now, Jake. Take good care of her. Promise me.”

Then we have Jake. I loved him from the very first scene. He’s been best friends with Ben since they were kids. He thinks nothing of setting Ben up on a blind date, that is until he sees who the girl is. From the second Jake laid eyes on Allie, he knew he would never be the same. He loved her from the beginning, but there’s one problem - she was with Ben. Since that night, they have all become good friends- Allie, Ben and Jake.

After Ben’s accident, Jake is with Allie all the time, making sure to keep his promise to Ben. But it’s hard for Jake because he loves her, and he knows she’s not ready to be with him yet. He goes to the one place that he can think, and hopefully get some kind of answer.

“What do I do? Do I tell her? Is there room for me in her life? I can’t let her go. No one else will love her better than I will. But can I love her and keep my promise to you?”

Jake wants to spend his life with her, but he knows she needs time. He is there with Allie every day. He wants to be a good friend to her, but he wants more.

“I’m in love with you, Allie. I’ve always loved you. I need you, Allie. I need to be with you. I need to come home to you at the end of the day. To share my life with you, and to share yours. To sleep with you at night, and wake with you in the morning. And I think you need me, too.”

I really liked this book. The connection between Allie and Ben was so amazing, but I also liked how Allie, Ben, and Jake were such close friends. I really enjoy a book that makes me feel so connected to the characters. I loved watching them all together and I was hoping that the book ended the way I wanted it to.

The quality of writing was great. The story was well-written and very enjoyable to read. This was such a sweet, second chance love story between two characters that had such an intense attraction and connection to each other. The story kept me interested and I found myself looking forward to the next page. I could not put it down!

4.5 Diamonds for this sweet story!!

4.5 emotional stars!!

I am so in love with this story!!! Allie, Jake, and even Ben stole my heart in this one. They had my emotions all over the place. I was smiling, laughing, swooning, hurting, and even pissed off a few times. This story is filled with love, regret, betrayal, heartache, trust….you name it, it’s packed in there. I love finding new authors that rock my reading world, and Ruthie has!!

I don’t need to go into much detail about the plot of this story, the synopsis sums it up well…almost too well. That’s my only complaint. I wish I hadn’t known as much as I did going in. Some readers like to know a lot about the story first, I just happen to be one that loves going in blind as much as I can. But, don’t fret, there are still a few surprises you will love ;)

“He’d given his heart a lifetime ago. It wasn’t up for grabs.”

I enjoyed every moment of reading this story. There was never a point where I lost interest. She gives you enough detail about the characters feelings to suck you into their heads but not bore you. It felt so real and I was able to understand the characters and feel for them. Allie is amazing!! Her life really is not an easy one, but she was able to make the best out of it. Now Jake, Jake stole my heart from the beginning. I was cheering him on from chapter one even though I knew he wasn’t getting the girl in the beginning. My heart actually ached for him as he had to stand by and be the supportive best friend while Ben lived the life that Jake wanted :(And then Ben…WTF was he thinking?!? I felt like he had the potential to be an amazing guy and I actually am still torn about him, but he made BAD decisions!!

“I’m not amazing. I loved him. For a long time I loved him. And I have to believe he loved us too, the best way he could.” -Allie

And even though the story focuses on Allie, Jake, and Ben mainly, there are so many other secondary characters that really made the story so great. I couldn’t help but love them all and cheer them all on. This story truly did touch my heart and make me think about how quickly life goes by. It makes you think about the little things and how important happiness is. I highly recommend you get your hands on this story and I give it the Book Bitch stamp of approval :) 

After reading this book, I'm going to give this book 4 Stars! When I initially started reading this book, I have to admit it left me a bit confused. With that being said I decided to keep moving forward, waiting for the “Wow” factor! As the book progressed the story started to come together for me.

The Prologue introduced us to Alexandra (Allie) Tate, she was leaving her shrinks office feeling like a new women with a new resolve. Finally being able let part of herself go from all feelings of hurt and guilt involving Ben. Allie’s Shrink mentioned which is now one of my favorite lines in life.

"Be Happy"

Then this book will take you back 19 years to where it all started. From the first meeting, you can see Ben and Allie (Alexandra) had chemistry with one another. Jake is also in the picture, and he seems to be infatuated with her as well. You can already sense a Love triangle coming on. Just by Jake's muttering.

"Who does he think he is? A genie who just had his fucking lamp rubbed?"
*Given this book for a HONEST Review in exchange for copy of book provided by Author*
Ben wasn't my favorite character mainly because he comes off as a "JOCK" type jerk. Even with his overbearing statements when he calls her for their first date. He doesn't give her the option of “no”. Just says he was taking her to breakfast without waiting for an answer. Ben did have some good traits so not all are bad points for example when he makes statements like the one below to Allie.

"My life began when I met you, and I want to continue it with you."

After everything Allie went through, I couldn't help but swoon over Jake, so...my question is: Did Jake and Allie end up together or was it just her and Ben till the end?!?!

My absolute favorite quotes in the book would be:

"A dimestore novel? Is there sex in it?" "What do you say we write our own?"

I don’t want to tell you who said it, you will have to read the book to find out!! It’s long story, I admit but I personally think it is worth the read!! I may not re-read Twice In A Lifetime again, but I am glad I received the pleasure of being introduced to Twice In A Lifetime by Ruthie Henrick.

*3.75 Stars*

This book follows the beautiful redhead Alexandra (Allie) many years through her turbulent life. We see her fall hard for her true love Ben in college on a blind date and follow their relationship as it progresses quickly. At the same time we see Ben’s best mate Jake become smitten with her too, having to hide his feelings and love her from the sidelines.

“I learned – long time ago – to be your friend, Allie. It was the only way I could be part of your life.”

I have to say that Ben and Allie’s first kiss has to be the most swoon worthy first kiss that I have read! Maybe it was because I was so waiting for it to happen but I got lost in their kiss as much as they did and found myself highlighting it to go back and re-read with a romantic sigh later!

It’s not a spoiler to say that 15 years later Allie loses Ben in a tragic way and shocking secrets are exposed (as mentioned in the Synopsis), leaving Allie pained and devastated.

Jake becomes Allie’s rock and I fell completely in love with him myself. He came across so kind, patient and loving. You really find yourself rooting for them as a couple as they seem so perfect for each other, if they could just get over their own hang-ups! Allie is such a strong character and you really want her to have her second shot at an happily ever after, especially as both her and Jake are so selfless.

“You’re an amazing woman, resilient and strong. I want to be your friend, but I love you, I want more.”

Being told in varying viewpoints got me understanding the characters well and immersed me in the story with them. This was a sweet book with a few shocks, swoons, heartbreak and heart-warming happiness with a lovely epilogue. If you want an all-round good read then this is for you.

I randomly stumbled upon this book and found myself tearing through it to find out what would happen. I really enjoyed Twice in a Lifetime. For it being a debut novel, there was an incredible amount of depth to the characters and plot. I was hooked from the prologue...

A chance encounter leads to a happily ever after. Ben's character is perfectly flawed and I loved going back in time and seeing his relationship with Allie unfold. Allie thought she had her fairytale, but things aren't always what they seem and Allie learns that in a big way after a tragedy strikes her family. Her husband had been living a lie for quite some time and she is left to sort through the mess left behind. She has some help though, her teenage son, Trey, her best friends Reese, Maddie and Jake. They all rally around her and lift her up but its Jake who helps her heal the most. Jake has been the dutiful best friend for years and is not so secretly in love with Allie (always looking in from the sidelines).

I really liked the cast of characters. Allie is one of the best female leads I've read in a while. She is kind and giving even in her grief and heartbreak. She is selfless and forgiving beyond all get out. But don't let that fool you, she is tough where she needs to be; especially in dealing with a hormonal and emotional teenager. I enjoyed watching her struggle to listen to her heart and finally giving into what she wanted. Jake has the patience of a saint and I really liked watching a more dominant side of him when he started fighting with and for Allie for them. Also, his interactions with Trey were enough to put a smile on my face.

Overall, this is an easy read. The story, while it covers some heavy topics, is written eloquently and with the care it deserves. I wish there would've been a bit more of Trey and his reaction and bonding with Jake and Allie after everything that happened (though we do get his POV in the end). I will be keeping my eyes peeled for more work from Ruthie Henrick in the future.

One of my favourite books of all-time happens to be Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern where the two main characters fall in love with each other and then over the years they write letters to each other as no matter what happens they cannot be together as life and other loves get in the way of their happiness until eventually they are both free of their previous engagements and can finally be together with the one they truly love. To me, that was Twice in a Lifetime by Ruthie Henrick was similar to as Allie and Jake first meet each other in college as Jake is busy dating Allie's roommate and she decides that Allie needs a night out and sets her up on a blind date with Jake's best friend Ben. Ben and Allie hit it off , though her feelings for Jake will always be in the background as there is a spark between the two. Ben and Allie later marry and have a son called Trey, then 16 years later Ben dies leaving Allie not only a mess due to a secret revealed but alone. Thank goodness though, Jake is still around and she turns her comfort towards him and the pair realise that their love bond is still strong. Can Allie and Jake get to the point where their being together won't feel weird like they are rubbing it in to their dead friend Ben ? Find out to see whether Allie will finally receive the love she has been longing for with Jake in "Twice in a Lifetime". I loved this story as it made me think of personal situations and tales that I know of when it comes to true love and soulmates.

If you have ever believed in your one true love this story might just show you that it is possible to have two that equally have filled your life. The author has created a descriptive work of art as she takes us on the journey through Allie’s life. While there are instant connections, some will last a lifetime and others will prove to be jaded by a dark secret. Allie is a wife, mother and friend who suddenly finds herself facing her worst nightmare.

While I wanted to love Ben, I found myself feeling sorry for him. He made some choices that ate away at him and showed he was not the man Allie thought he was. The emotional turmoil that surrounded their marriage was explained in a shocking twist of events. Never having a chance to explain himself, Ben remained a man whose memory hung on a simple “I’m sorry”.

At first I found Jake to be nothing more than a player who wanted what he couldn’t have. Much to my surprise, this man was in love with his best friend’s wife. Watching him struggle through relationships of his own was a painful experience. I can only imagine the heartache he lived with even if he wasn’t able to admit it to himself.

I was pleased with the way this story played out. This novel is a perfect example that love really is patient and kind. Second chances are granted to those who are deserving. Thank you Ruthie for creating a beautiful story if life and love.

This book is one of the reasons I love reading, I loved it from the moment I started reading the short description.

Everybody is searching for true love but what is the chance of finding it twice. The story has everything love, friendship, betrayal and loss of a loved one.
Sometimes life can give you a strange turn when you not expect it.

The story starts with a blind date to help their friends Reese and Jake out Allie and Ben agree for this date, but nobody expected this to result in a marriage. After a good marriage, a beautiful son and a couple of miscarriges faith strikes Allie's world. Not only she looses her husband in a car accident she finds out his betrayal.

Jake is also shocked by his best friends betrayal but is not going to stand at the sideline again to watch the woman he loves for the past fifteen years to crash down. Not only is he going to make sure his promise to his best friend to take care of Allie and her son, no it’s time to make his move.

But will it go easy to go from friend to lover, will she agree for that? Allie won't take away the family he wants and she no longer can give him.

Will he get the chance too show here that he needs only her and her family?

This is a story of overcoming the worst things you can imagine. It's about healing, forgiveness, and love.

Ruthie Henrick wrote this one beautifully. I loved being able to fully "watch" the characters grow as the story went on. The story starts out in the present and then jumps backwards 19 years when it all started...

Allie, Ben, Jake, and Reese are all friends in college. Jake and Reese are seeing one another and they want to set up Allie and Ben. Although it's obvious that Jake is attracted to Allie, he sits back and watches as they hit it off.

Their relationship stays strong and they get married and have a son. All the while, Jake is there, in the background, with his heart full of love for Allie.

When tragedy strikes and Allies world is turned upside down not once, but twice, Jake is still there.

I read this one quickly with my mind just pushing for Allie to wake up and see Jake. It was an adventure, that's for sure. Just when you think you have it figured out, Hendrick throws a lil something extra in there to keep you guessing if they will in fact see one another as more than just friends.

I give this one 4 stars and will definitely read more by Ruthie Henrick!

3.5 stars. A good read. This was a story of overcoming the worst things you can imagine. It's about healing, forgiveness, and love. The story starts out in the present and then jumps backwards 19 years when it all started...Allie, Ben, Jake, and Reese are all friends in college.
But....tragedy strikes and Allies world is turned upside down not once, but twice, and all the while Jake is still there.

I read this one quickly with my mind just pushing for Allie to wake up and see Jake for what he felt for her. I quickly read the first 70% of the book and probably skimmed the last 30% because I knew what had to happen...and I just wanted it to happen already and the ending seemed a little dragged out. I liked this....but didn't love it.

This is a new author to me and I'm so glad that I found her and this great book! After reading the blurb I felt instantly drawn to this book and jumped right into it. My two favorite types of books is one's that tell of finding first love and second chance love/romance and this book is about both. I love all the great series about rich alpa males getting the girl but I really enjoy reading a story that is full of realness with relatable characters that you feel could be your best friends and this is exactly what Twice In A Lifetime is about. The author takes you through life with Allie, Ben, and Jake where new love is found, family is created, loss of love and life is grieved, revealing betrayal that is devastating yet learning to forgive and move forward, and lastly discovering love again! I will definitely be on the lookout for more books by this author.

What a beautifully written and amazing book!

We follow Allie through meeting Ben, reluctantly falling in love, and marrying him. Something was always not quite right with Ben, I liked him but I didnt, and I felt Allie's frustrations at the distant way he acted. Ben's best friend and partner, Jake, always loved Allie from afar, cursing his luck that someone got their first. Ben dies, and we discover why he was acting so strangely.

I wanted Allie to jump into Jake's waiting arms, but something always held her back. I was just as frustrated as he was watching her stay just out of his grasp. Ruthie Henrick's writing was so poetic and vivid. This book has the best first kiss I've ever read. It was so perfectly descriptive that I was breathless at the end of the scene. I can't wait for more from this author!

Ruthie Henrick weaves an interesting story that tells the tale of Allie, Ben and Jake. Allie meets Ben on a blind date and they become involved and, eventually, married. The book spans their entire relationship and Jake is Ben's best friend. After Ben has a tragic accident, Allie learns disturbing information about things Ben kept from her. Jake does his best to support Allie and keep his feelings to himself. It was a nice progression to see Allie move on and learn how to let her heart go again. A pretty good read. There were times, however, that I could not tell which character was speaking and that got a little confusing at times.

What a wonderful story! I truly enjoyed each and every emotion this book pulled out of me, even when I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. I could feel the love, the anger, the deception, the longing. Oh, the longing!
I loved the heroine, Allie, from the start. She had a good head on her shoulders, loved her son with all of her heart, and always tried her best to make the right decision for her family. The two men in her life were sexy, endearing, and sometimes downright infuriating. Do not miss out on the beautiful story of love, betrayal, forgiveness, and renewal. I highly recommend this book!
