Between the fission music, warm people, hot baths and Bedouin food, it is well worth going on the pre-dawn hike and watch the sunrise up in the blue sky of the holy land.
St. Catherine’s Monastery – Situated at the foot of Mount Sinai, St. Catherine’s is an Eastern Orthodox Monastery built in the 6th century AD. It is one of the world’s oldest active Christian monasteries.
In 2002 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Its 2 hours away from Dahab and 3 hours from Sharm El Sheik.

According to the Old Testament, Moses received the Ten Commandments from God on the summit of Mt. Sinai (2285 m / 7497 ft.).
Sunrise from the summit of Mount Sinai considered sacred by Christians, Jews and Muslims alike, Mt. Sinai has become a popular pilgrimage site which attracts thousands of visitors every year.
The majority of those making the climb to the top, begin their walk in the early hours of the morning to catch sunrise from the summit.
Route / Conditions:
There are two paths to the summit. The Camel Path, which is wider, more gradual and longer, and; the Steps of Penitence, which is shorter, more challenging and consists of some 3750 steps.
For a comprehensive overview of religious, as well as geographic points of interests along both paths.
Season:
All year, especially in winter It can be a little chilly pre-dawn but sunny and warm in the morning.
So huddle up with your fellow pilgrims and belt a few chorus, meditate or play music while you wait for the sun to make its appearance.
Sleeping:
Basic accommodation hotel (shared rooms) with clean beds and hot bathtubs.

3- A small backpack for daily hikes
4- Sunglasses / Sunblock
5- Warm cloth (Jackets / Sweater & comfortable trouser)
6- Power bars (or dates)
7- Sweets or colouring books for the local kids
8- Night Torches (flashlights)
