About WDW Travels

My name is Heather Noyes and I’ve loved traveling to Disney World, ever since I was a little girl. I still remember my first trip like it was yesterday. As a former Disney travel agent, I started this blog to help you make your trip just as memorable.

Now, many moons after my first trip, my husband, daughter and myself take trips to Disney World regularly. From Disney travel planning tips to park guides and restaurant reviews, I will try to give you all of the knowledge I have attained over the years in my blog. Below are just a few of the frequently asked questions that I get asked.

When is the best time to visit Disney World?

That’s tricky because there a lot of things to think about. Disney World is located in Florida and while they do have beautiful weather, but they also have humidity. If you can avoid any type of holiday or if the kids are going to be out of school for the summer months the parks are going to be crowded. Christmas is probably the busiest time of year and occasionally the parks do shut down because they are over capacity.

There is one other thing to think about as well, Disney travel promotions. Most of the time they do offer some kind of room discounts at Disney World. But you should look out for the free dining promotions as well.

So you need to think about possibly planning your trip around when promotions typically happen or when kids are going to be in school. It’s really difficult to say any particular time that there are dramatically fewer crowds at Disney World any more.

However, generally speaking, the months to avoid the crowds are January, February, and March. These are also probably the best months to visit if you want to avoid the heat, but make sure you avoid the week of Spring Break.

If you can’t make it earlier in the year then September, October, and November are great options as well. But again, if you can, I would try to avoid the holidays.

What is the weather like in Florida for different months?

I get this question more than probably anything else. I can tell you that summer is extremely hot and it’s going to rain every day even if it’s for a few minutes. It’s going to be shorts weather probably May through September and then in the evenings be a little cooler.

The caveat here is that if you live in a northern climate you may find yourself in shorts most any time of year. But I live in New Hampshire where it’s colder than c-c-c-cold and I’ve actually had to put a sweatshirt on in January.

I would always check Weather Channel or whatever apps you use before you head out. The weather in Florida is always different, so just make sure you try to plan ahead the best you can.

When is the free dining promotion?

Normally free dining is offered every fall historically, but there are no guarantees as to when it’s offered or if it will be offered by Disney. Historically speaking, you can catch the promotion anywhere between the very end of August through November.

I’ve even seen it all the way up to Christmas before, so if anything look for the free dining promotion in the fall. We have seen these past couple years they are random dates, and Halloween’s normally included in that.
