HOUSTON, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Better Angels, a feature documentary showcasing China-U.S. ties, will be screened Thursday evening at Rice University in Houston, the U.S. state of Texas, as part of its grassroots campaign, according to a producer of the film.

William Mundell, the U.S. producer of the documentary, told Xinhua that they had planned a grassroots campaign at the universities across the United States.

"We will be opening the Beijing film festival next week and have plans to show the film on 9,200 screens in China," he said.

Mundell said his purpose is to make a film that could be watched as easily in China as in the United States. "I wanted the American people and Chinese people to become stakeholders in what is the most important bilateral relationship in the world," he said.

According to the producer, the response to the documentary so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

Sunny Zhang, associate professor of Marketing at the Cameron School of Business, University of St. Thomas in Houston, echoed Mundell's words, saying the documentary is also a window to look into the cultural communication among Chinese and American workers, which leads to greater understanding over time.

Both Mundell and Zhang who is also president of Z LAB USA LLC, a Houston-based global marketing firm, will attend the screening and panel event as speakers Thursday at Rice campus, sponsored by Rice University Chinese Students and Scholars Association (RCSSA) and China General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) - Houston.

The film is directed by award-winning director Malcolm Clarke and produced by William Mundell and award-winning Chinese producer Han Yi. It features stories of how ordinary Chinese and Americans benefit from a close China-U.S. relationship.
