Genesis is still coming to terms with her new-found powers. She’s a wolf and a nymph which is a mighty odd yet deadly combination. She is determined to prove herself to her pack. She has been traversing all over looking for something that is missing in her world and when she finally finds it she holds on with both hands. She thinks she has made allies but in a world of dog eat dog and everyone wants to be an Alpha she has to remain on guard. She sets off to Russia to learn more about her heritage and captures the attentions of another Alpha.

Liam wants to atone for his sins. He sets off to find the Alpha of the pack he wronged and what happens is beyond barbaric. His one bright light and reason for being is Genesis. He isn’t sure how to come back from what he has done but he hopes he has one more chance to make it right.

I have been waiting on The Curse since I read the final sentence in The Accalia. I’m invested in the lives of Liam and Genesis and the pack. I was glad to see some growth in Genesis from book one because let’s face it she’s a dramatic 18-year-old woman and well aren’t all women dramatic in some way? She established herself and finally came to terms with her importance in their world.I will always have a soft spot for Liam even if he acts harshly and smothers Genesis at times.

Madeline is a best friend I’d want to have. We are also introduced to some new key players and I’ll leave that at that. H.L. Girton wrote a villain so cunning and suave you briefly question yourself that maybe you read him all wrong. All in all, this is a wonderful second installment to this world. I’m patiently not so patiently waiting for the third book. There better be a third!

The Curse picks up immediately where The Accalia left off which, unfortunately means, Genesis Berkeley is still a spoiled, rotten, brat.
For a second, I was ready to diagnose her with bipolar disorder. One minute she's pissed at Liam for saving her life. Then she’s angry with Madeline for saving her life, and forgiving Liam, then best friends with Madeline again and grieving over the loss of her lover even though she's the one who sent him away. For the first half of the book, I almost wished these characters would do us all a favor and just not save the Accalia next time she's on the brink of death…

Fight. Fight. Fight. All she ever does is fight with Liam. He's jealous and untrusting of Nicolay so what does Geneses do? She accepts an expensive piece of jewelry from Nicolay which of course infuriates Liam. Then later, she storms off and locks herself in her room during yet another childish fit because she's angry that Liam is over protective with her. When he finally gives up and leaves her alone, she trots down to Nicolay’s office and spends the day with him. It's like she intentionally does things to piss Liam off.

But then the author does something I never would expect. She expands on Genesis’s history and we learn how the curse of the wolf was created and what is expected from the Accalia. The mythological spin on the wolf lore mixed with nymph lore was fascinating. Then, to throw Liam’s tortured past into the mix created the perfect amount of tension and turmoil that had be binging the last half of the book.

A slow start, but the end truly makes up for it. My feelings are still undecided about Genesis. It’s almost comparable to watching Twilight. I love the plot, but I despise Kristen Stewart…who know’s, maybe Genesis will grow on me while reading The Healer.

I have been itching to read this book since the cliffhanger at the end of book 1 and I must say I was not disappointed! This book picks up right where book 1 ended and continues the story seamlessly. This installment will take you on an emotional roller coaster. This author does an amazing job of bringing the characters to life and sucking you into their world where you will be crying with them, getting angry, holding your breath, being excited at the same time rooting for them to overcome and win. The author left an opening for a 3rd book but without the dreaded cliff hanger. This series is a must read!

As good as the first!

Too often sequels fall flat, but this wasn't the case here! If you enjoyed the first book in the Accalia series you'll enjoy this one too!

HL Girton created a new werewolf mythos with book one and her well rounded and engaging characters soon became personal favorites. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I looked forward to book 2 with some degree of trepidation. Would the darkness and violence of book 1 corrupt the characters I’d grown to love and looked forward to learning more about? I needn’t have feared...
Genesis finds her niche and her personal power. Liam learns restraint and mercy. The action is even more intense than in the first book. The main characters’ romance blossoms -even as wrenching betrayals and unexpected loyalties are revealed. The author guides us, along with her characters, through many plot twists and emotional entanglements with satisfying and believable conclusions. You could jump right into Book 2, but do yourself a favor and read these in order to appreciate the characters' development. I highly recommend this book and this series. Well done.

This book picks up where the first one leaves off, and holy moly it packs an emotional punch. I had to force myself to breathe and keep going because of the twists and turns. If you are looking for a series that keeps you glued to the pages, this series is for you.

I love the character of Genesis. She is fierce, and I want to be her when or if I ever grow up. The author has this way of creating these fantastical characters that you want to love. I love how fast paced the action was, it definitely has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. The character development was much more complex, which is AMAZING! We get to learn more about their pasts. And I might have a crush on Liam.

I cannot wait for the next book. I will definitely recommend this book to others. I give it 5/5 Platypires.

I'm beyond thrilled, The Curse picked up right where The Accalia left off with its wicked cliff-hanger. Sometimes, the author tosses in a major re-cap in the beginning which drives me absolutely bonkers. Not the case here, otherwise I would have flipped through the pages just to find out what happened next! Betrayal, lies and secrets is the Heart & Soul of book two and once you've finished reading, all of your burning questions will have been answered.

I love strong believable characters and H. L. Girton steals the show with Genesis and Liam. Their personal growth in the span of these two books was astounding! Twists and turns abound in this one so hang on tight because just when you thought you had it all figured out....

I highly recommend The Accalia Series if you love a great paranormal read with an edge! Another brilliant 5 star!!!

The Curse
By: H.L. Girton
Review by: Cady

I’d start by classifying this book as “young adult” to adult. The main character is out of high school, but is still young which I think makes it appeal to a younger demographic in general. However, don’t let that deter you from this tantalizing read. The cover art is very appealing to me for many reasons. It is simple, yet alluring and pairs well with the first book. The usage of the same model and font allows readers to associate the book with one another and breeds a sense of familiarity. This lends well to creating a fanbase and a recognizable book on shelves. Well done! The layout is easy to comprehend, but I had a small issue right in the beginning with switching character perspective. This only lasted through the first couple of chapters the never bothered me again. Overall, I give the layout, and cover a 5 star rating.

Now that I have the “boring stuff” out of the way, let’s learn a little about the author, shall we?

She is a personal friend of mine and all around genuinely nice person. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to connect with her and share some laughs. I couldn’t think of a sweeter author if I tried, and I hope that she continues to be successful.

Review:
While reading these books I began to get invested in the future of the main character, Genesis, and her love, Liam. It frustrates me to no end when they argue, and I find myself muttering angrily about how they need to work on their communication regularly. It’s comical because I generally don’t get emotionally invested in love lives of characters, but I’ll be damned if those two don’t figure out their problems! The book follows the pack as they begin to unravel the mystery of the origin of their kind and the lore that accompanies it. The inherent mistrust in Liam towards the Russian alpha definitely gives you pause and makes you wonder what kind of history is there, and what is giving him such strong feelings. However, Genesis’s insistence that he is trustworthy makes you almost want Liam to be wrong. The book goes more in depth about the lore of the shifters and how they came to be, while also giving you more information about the origin of the elementals. (I’m a total sucker for a good origin story.) This book will keep you hooked as you try to figure out who is to be trusted and who will betray the pack. Genesis is supposed to be the savior of all, but with so many people or forces against her, it almost seems impossible at times. Her destiny is much larger than she originally realized and will need all of the support she can get in the books to come. My review ends up being 5 out of 5 stars and I highly recommend buying ASAP and settling in for a nice read with a blanket and beverage of your choice.

Now that I have slept on it, and was able to get my thoughts in order, I finally think I can write a review that will give this book justice.

For those that have read my review on the first book, you know how badly I've been waiting for this one. The way the first book ended left me with anxiety for days and just HAD to know how it was resolved. And, while it was definitely resolved, it didn't ease my anxiety much as I continued to read.

This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, it was like one thing after another and there was hardly any time to breathe at all. I swear these poor characters never catch a break, there's no slowing down, no rest period. Just as they resolve one issue, an entirely different one pops up and things get nuts. Again.

The story picks up exactly where the first one left off, with Liam on the run and Genesis doing everything she can to find him. Eventually, she does, but it's not in the way she wanted to, or the way she had hoped. Things only seem to escalate from there too! We learn more about the history and past of our characters as well. We learn more about the Accalia and what part she has to play in the world. There are some major surprises, many of which you will not see coming at all, we
make some new friends as well as some new enemies, and there's even betrayal! I swear this book has everything!

My emotions were all over the place while reading this, I almost didn't even want to turn the page. The relief I felt when one thing resolved never lasted long before I was biting my nails and stressing about what was to come.

The first book was, hands down, my favorite book of 2017, this one has started my 2018 off with a bang and it's definitely going to be tough to top this! I absolutely LOVE this series, it's in my top 3 favorites, and I can not wait to read more!

Huge shout out to the author for writing such an incredible story that makes you feel and makes you think. Not to mention being able to pull off all the surprises and twists and turns without giving anything away! I just love her writing style, it's so easy to follow and so captivating, and she had quickly become one of my favorite authors!

If you love paranormal romance, this series is a MUST READ! 5 out of 5 stars!

The Curse (The Accalia series book 2)
By H.L. Girton reviewed by Angi

This is a book 2 so if you have not read The Accalia book 1 what are you waiting for? Go click buy now!

After my emotional response to the first story, I didn't know what to expect. (I actually threw my kindle at the last sentence of the 1st book..yea its that kinda cliff hanger) Here is a new author 2nd book..is it gonna hold up? HECK YEAH, IT DOES!! I had just as emotional roller coaster ride in book 2 as I did in book one. It's a don't put the book down kinda read! I read it in one sitting and I am begging for more!

We pick up at the fall out of the severe cliffhanger we left behind. Gen is hunting for Liam and Liam thinks he doesn't deserve Gen. This is an epic love story. But the love story is not just the story. We meet other packs. We see loyalty pledged and alpha challenges. My ultimate favorite is when a pack challenges Gen. We really get a look at how special Gen the Accalia really is. She is not just a wolf she is also a nymph. She controls an element and this makes her special. SHE IS THE ACCALIA!
She is also teaching the packs that violence and death are not always the answer. I love this message.. She is strong and even scared she stands for what she believes in. I think this is the reason that this book resonates so strongly. This should be put in every young girl's hands to read!

We also travel to Russia ohhh I have a thing for Russians...anyhoo when we leave the US for Russia we do not leave crisis. It's like they can not catch a break. We are also introduced to new friends and foes.

Betrayal and heartache weave in and out of this book. I am thinking that H.L. Girton loves to torment us. She should also supply a free box of tissues with each installment of her series.

So grab some snacks, (You won't wanna put the book down to cook) grab a box of tissues and get comfy you're in for a heck of a ride!

Wow! If you thought the first book in this series, The Accalia, was great, prepare to be blown away! This was an awesome addition to the story. The story starts off directly where the the first book ended. I like when stories do that. Right away the reader is diving back into the action. I don't want to give too much away. Especially if you have not read the first book (go no! Read it!). I just want to say that this book is even better than the first one and that is saying a lot. Our main character Genesis is still awesome and even more strong and amazing than she was in the first book. Along with the same characters the readers love and some great new additions. There is more action, romance, hilarious moments, heart breaking moments and reasons to make you pause and say wow. My only issue with this story was that the book ended. I want more. And there will be more in this story. I can't wait!
I highly recommend this story to anyone. This has a little bit for everyone no matter which genre of story you prefer. But you do need to read the first book to fully be involved in this one. But once you do read them both you will thank me. And maybe hate me because now you will be so involved in this continuing story. But you will not regret it.

Just amazing!
H. L. Girton has done it again and delivers with The Curse, a follow up to her first book The Accalia. I've been itching to read this book since the first book ended with a cliffhanger and was once again captured. The storyline is so gripping you can't put the book down. The characters are incredibly developed and integrated within the story where the book is easy to follow but yet does not loose it's edge or suspense. Chapters flow together seamlessly and keep you interested.
Like The Accalia this book is a must read. Make sure to read The Accalia first before diving head on into The Curse. It will give you a better understanding of the characters and the storyline.
Congratulations to H. L. Girton on yet another amazing book. Looking forward to the next book in this incredible series.

As with the first book I can't wait to read more! The author does a great job and making a world that you never want to leave. Every single character either becomes your friends or your enemies too, as you travel on the crazy train along with Genesis and her pack of friends and family. I love a book/series that makes you feel a part of the tale that is being told. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is simply the typos. I wanted to explain that even though I gave only 4 stars the typos aren't so bad that they take away from the story. The story is great, everything about the book is good, and I will continue to watch for more from this author. And I would recommend this book to anyone from 16 to 60!

A fantastic story! Book 2 continues with Genesis' story. So many new and interesting things are revealed within its pages. New events take place in Russia that begin to explain alot of unanswered questions. I loved all of the different dynamics and there were moments when I caught myself clenching my jaw. I fell back in love with the characters ♡ There are lots of interesting twists and turns. My heart had so much hope for certain characters but in some ways it was not meant to be. I can't wait to read book 3 and see where Genesis' relationship and powers lead.

Absolutely LOVED this book!!!! Talk about ups and downs and twists and turns!!!!! One thing H.L Girton is really good at is keeping you on your toes and making you want more!!!!!!! This book brings you even deeper into the world of the wolves and nymps!!!!! Getting to learn more about Genesis and who she is and why she is who she is, and we get to see a side to the lovely Liam!!! We also get to meet an AMAZING new character that for now is my favorite person, i so cant wait to learn about them!!!!! If you have not read the first book to this FANTASTIC new series, then I would have to say you are missing out!!!!!! It keeps getting better and better!!! Cant wait for the next book to come out!!!!!

This is the second book in the series. Genesis is being stalked by an unknown Were. No one knows why. She is seriously injured and she has driven Liam off. The pack must save her and then look for Liam. I don't want to do any spoilers so let me just say that this book is even more action packed than the first book. Things go from bad to worse and a trip to visit the Russian Pack leads to even more danger. But, ever the optimist, Genesis keeps putting herself and the pack in danger. She is so close to finding the meaning of the Curse.
Don't read this book without reading "The Accalia" and don't read either without tissues handy.

What a way to start off this new year then with this awesome book. After what Genesis found out about herself and her friend in the first book, we get to follow her journey through everything that is going on. I love the way the book started off and it grabs your attention right then and there to where you will not want to put the book down. This book will be an emotional book if you want something that can make you cry or love it then this is the book to read. But you need to read the first book to be able to know what is going on so if you have not read the first one then you need to read both of them as they are both great books and will bring you to the edge of your seat till you finish the book!

I have to first say WOW! I was so blown away by this book. I don't even know where to start with this review.
This book picks up where The Accalia left off so you must read that book first.
The whole book is packed with answers to many questions and gives you a lot more of the history of the Accalia. There are many twists and turns in the story. Its very gripping and keeps you turning the pages. Genesis and Liam have so much to overcome in this book. There are a few new characters that really add to the story. Not only do we learn a lot more about Genesis and her Nymph side but we also learn a lot about Liam's past and his family.
I don't think I have words that do this story justice. I just absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read more from this author and this series. If you haven't read The Accalia and this book then you are really missing out! Its a must read and if you've never read a book like this then this series is the best one to start with because its mind blowing!!

In book two you are faced with far more problems and twists than you can imagine. Everything you love about book one, will grow in book two. More romance, more confusion and a horrific couple of twists. You learn exactly what happened to cause the curse and the first step in stopping the curse.

Ok now, onto the next one!

Just kidding, in all seriousness this book series is one of my favorites, very great world building, you just keep getting surprised by all the really amazing original ideas. The different characters are so diverse and wonderfully well rounded.
I don’t want to say too much in regards to what is it the book, it just unfolds very natural and I wouldn’t want to deprive anyone of the surprises. Although I will leave you with...

By the end of the book, you will have a love hate relationship and you will be doing nothing (not even sleeping) without thinking of wanting to read more.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Just like its predecessor 'The Curse' kept me on the edge of my seat and kept me racing to the next page to find out what was going to happen next. The novel starts off directly where the the first book ended. I like when stories do that. Right away the reader is diving back into the action. Girton, was able to do something that many authors have issues doing, making the sequel just as edgy as the first book. Bringing in new additions and new twits Girton is able to bring this series to a whole other level. My only critique with the book is I feel the cover doesn't do the book justice. However, that shouldn't hold you back from reading this book.

If you have read the first book and liked it then you will be blown away with this paranormal romance novel!

This book was absolutely incredible, just wow. It picks up where The Accalia left off and was utterly gripping. It was so emotional and I found myself holding my breathe, completely anxious. The twists and turns were unexpected and there were some completely heartbreaking moments. Just when I thought things were getting resolved and I could relax, something else would happen and have me emotional and stressing again.
The story flows nicely and is well written. I loved meeting some of the other packs in this one and seeing how other Alphas are in comparison to Jeremiah. If you haven't started this series yet, you're missing out on something amazing. Bring tissues along for this one though. I can't wait for more!

The second book in the series is even more action-packed than the first. Having reconciled with Liam and gaining loyalty from not one but two packs, Genesis has to face a new challenge: a certain curse that was placed on the very first wolf and the woman he loved. But with a threat coming from where she least expected, Genesis isn’t safe anymore even among her own kind, let alone a Demi-god, who she is to defeat.
The second installment, most of which takes place in Russia, was incredibly riveting. The world-building, the character development was great, and I couldn’t turn pages fast enough to see how it all will play out. A great second book in the series and I’ll definitely be looking forward to the third one.

Action, drama, suspense and of course romance!! This book has it all!

Whew, Liam is back, thank goodness!! I thoroughly enjoyed learning a little more about him and where he came from. Genesis discovers some new truths about herself and I was taken on a wild ride as she struggles to deal with them.

Wonderful second book. Great characters, great writing, I could not put it down!! I cannot wait for book three!

I found myself on edge and anticipating things this entire book. I do think ALMOST everything has ended up as it should so far, but the things that haven't have a proper emotional impact. I read this book so quick, and it was so good it makes other books lately seem boring. A great continuation of the series and can't wait to read the next.

Wow!! Just like The Accalia, The Curse kept me intrigued and on the edge of my seat. I laughed, I cried and I smiled. I can't believe the exciting turn of events that have taken place. Now Genesis and Liam are expecting their first baby. I can't to see how things unravel in this exciting series.

After the first book I was so ready to dive right into The Curse. I will say you will not a can not put this book down. Every chapter is captivating! I enjoyed reading this as much as I did the first book (which I have read twice). The Curse picked up right where The Accalia left of. It has so many BIG events happening throughout the duration of the book. So many shocking incidents that you won’t believe happened, it was just amazing. This is a must read! I promise you will not regret it.
