About a dozen security force members on Friday intercepted hundreds of pharmaceutical agents in front of the home of Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The agents from BHIP Global Cambodia wanted to request Mr Hun Sen for a solution after their boss John Bros was fired.

However, security forces, along with district officials, intercepted the group and redirected the agents away from Mr Hun Sen’s home in order to accept their petition.

Taing Uy, a representative, on Friday said BHIP Global Cambodia fired their boss and refused to pay money owed.

“We don’t want to come here, but the conflict with the company has extended to more than one month,” Mr Uy said. “Management can enter our bank accounts – because it knows our passwords – and can steal our money.”

“Our leader John Bros was fired from the company. He made a lot of profit for the company and his money was stolen by management,” he added. “He was working there for eight years, but he was still cheated. What about us who worked there less than that?”

“We want the company, which is headquartered in America, to remove the current management team and we can sign a new deal for better cooperation,” Mr Uy noted. “We want equal rights as a business partner. We cannot follow the company’s internal policies.”

On November 15, the group submitted its original petition to the Labour Ministry, he said, adding that no solution was provided yet.

“We went to the Labour Ministry twice and we cannot wait any longer,” Mr Uy said. “That’s why we came here.”

A protestor who declined to be named said he wants management to be replaced with another team.

“The company took the account of Mr Bros in order to prevent him from becoming a business partner,” he said. “Now we are here to seek a solution from the Prime Minister in order to have the management team removed. We want a new business agreement that is fair.”

Sok Penhvuth, Daun Penh district governor, said on Friday that a solution will be given to the group of protesting agents.

“You have to move from here. I am the district governor and the cabinet has already seen you all through cameras,” Mr Penhvuth said. “They assigned me to receive you all and accept the petition.”
