Single Course - Understanding Vehicle Telematics

Welcome to Understanding Vehicle Telematics.

This course is designed to explain:
• What and how vehicle telematics works.
• What are the different types of devices and connections.
• The most common benefits from telematics.
• Calculating a return on investment and implementation considerations.

Organisations are responsible for providing a safe mobile workplace. To achieve this, they purchase fit for purpose vehicles often requiring a minimum 5 star ANCAP safety rating, and develop driver policies outlining how these vehicles must be used by the driver. The only challenge is once the driver is on the road, they have no visibility over how the vehicle is being used or where the vehicle is. Their only visibility around driver behaviour is receipt of infringement notices for speeding and the like.

Amongst other items, telematics provides visibility of the asset and how it is being driven.

This course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. At the end of the course, you will be presented with a short assessment to check your understanding. You’re required to achieve 100 per cent to pass.

Single Course - Understanding Service Bodies

Businesses come in all shapes and sizes and so do the requirements of fleets. Understanding the needs of the business and its customers is critical to selecting the right vehicle and service body fit out.

In some cases, the service body can cost as much as the vehicle so careful planning is required to maximise outcomes whilst minimising investment. The cheapest option is not always best, given the service body may have a life cycle greater than that of the vehicle it’s fitted to.

In this course, we cover the following topics:
• The value of a service body
• Terminology
• Importance of weight on a vehicle
• Compliance and Work Health and Safety (WHS)
• Considerations when designing a service body

Whilst not specifically covered, vans are an alternative to a service body, and can incorporate modular storage systems. Their pros and cons are outlined later in this course.

This course takes approximately 40 minutes to complete. At the end of the course, you will be presented with a short assessment to check your understanding. You’re required to achieve 100 per cent to pass.
