Overview

Pain Education Day is a Patients Included event hosted by Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) in partnership with the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research (CPPR) and the Pain in Child Health (PICH) training program.

The special topics Education Day will provide a deep dive into knowledge mobilization for anyone interested in learning more about how to bridge the gaps between research and practice, and policy. This event is for researchers, health professionals (from all disciplines), administrators, policymakers, trainees, patient partners, and others. Anyone from around the world or locally who wants to learn how to make a difference for children in pain is encouraged to register.

Pain Education Day will take place on the 5th floor of the Halifax Convention Centre, 1650 Argyle Street, Halifax, NS B3J 0E6. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all Pain Education Day attendees on-site.

Pain Education Day will precede ISPP 2023 on 1 October and is a separate event. Additional registration is required.

This brief session will provide an overview of a tool that attendees will use to come up with their own plan to move research evidence into practice and/or policy and will be followed after the break by an interactive workshop.

15:00 – 16:15: Interactive Workshop: Putting Knowledge Mobilization into Practice
This interactive workshop will guide attendees through the process of developing their own plan to move research evidence into practice and/or policy. Attendees will participate in small group sessions that will be facilitated by Knowledge Brokers and other experts from Solutions for Kids in Pain, who will provide guidance and consultation.

16:15 – 17:15: Rapid Fire: Pain in Child Health (PICH) Trainee Knowledge Mobilization in Action
A series of 4 presentations will showcase trainee-led knowledge mobilization or implementation science projects to improve children’s pain management.

This means that patients have participated in the design and planning of the event, and patients will be speaking at and attending the event as delegates. The disability requirements of attendees will be accommodated, and all sessions will be open to patient delegates. The event will be live-tweeted by SKIP to enable access to the event content for those unable to attend in person.
