The Ministry of Environment has evaluated 16 projects of small-scale ecotourism investment proposals, covering about ten hectares each, located in the Preah Monivong Bokor National Park.

Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment, Neth Pheaktra, led recently a joint working group from the ministry, provincial administration, local authorities and competent officials for the evaluation.

The Secretary of State unveiled that the Preah Monivong Bokor National Park is a potential natural resort that can attract many tourists.

With the participation of the private sector in the protection and conservation of natural resources through the development of ecotourism at Kampot province, the national park will become one of the most attractive tourism destinations, he said.

Cambodian people are gradually aware of the value of eco-tourism and have been visiting various protected areas, he added.

With better tourism service by the community, tourists have been able to promote the beautiful scenery of the protected area to others.

Ecotourism is an important driver for local economic growth because it creates jobs and income for the people, he underlined. AKP-Chea Vannak
