Electronic producer Patrik Gryst is set to release his captivating EP ‘Transportør’ on the 25th March 2022. After releasing 3 albums in the past year through his label Lethe Records, ‘Transportør’ sounds like a natural progression into the next phase of Gryst’s already extensive catalogue.

Having produced the record from his self-made studio, Patrik Gryst’s ambient soundscapes are heavily influenced by the sci-fi genre and formative experiences: growing up watching science fiction films such as 'Planet of the Apes' and ‘The Forbidden Planet’. These influences are clearly evident in Transpørter as the music feels tailor-made for a movie soundtrack, with imagery of futuristic dystopian landscapes using robotic-like voice samples and sound effects. The themes are reflected in the creative music video which features time-lapsed distorted imagery that brings similarities from the famous comic-style a-ha ‘Take On Me’ video. The footage was captured by being placed on moving vehicles and used to emulate time travel hence the song title Transpørter.

Patrik Gryst played the piano from a young age and music clearly stuck with him as he eventually turned his back on careers in archaeology and psychotherapy to pursue his true passion. In recent years, Patrik Gryst started remixing tracks for other artists on small European independent labels such as Wildcraft Studio, RevKon Records and Ozran Sunset and used lockdown to focus on writing and producing his own music. Transpørter features more traditional minimal techno elements from influences such as Drexciya and Robert Hood. As the song progresses there is a countdown towards a huge crescendo of creative synth loops and electronic beats. Patrik states ‘I like to change the emotional state of the listener and captivate their attention, stirring their imagination.’ and you can feel this through the storytelling elements of his music, a trait not particularly common to the electronic genre.

The first single of a four-track EP Transportør follows on from three albums released earlier this year; ‘Pure Duration‘, ‘This Dark Life’ and the glacial soundscape of ‘Sanger fra Nordpolen’, inspired by the Arctic expanses of Svalbard. Patrik Gryst is also currently planning a live sound installation project to be hosted by museums, cathedrals and other architecturally significant buildings. Be sure to keep an eye on his socials for updates about this release and more.
